Minder to return
@ 2008-07-31 – 20:01:19
Minder is coming back to our tv screens- although it is only channel 5 so it won't be to everyones screens. And for this series will star Shane Ritchie is Arthur Daly's nephew Archie. It is said to have a string of star appearances {I assume Jesse Wallace will pop out at some point.. Oh Alfie... I mean Archie!} however there are no plans to have George Cole or Dennis Waterman.
But the big question is.... If there is no Waterman, who will sing the theme tune?

Monster Hunter- El Pombero
@ 2008-07-30 – 10:23:03
This show on Virgin indulges my interest in fabled and folklorish creatures as the team hunt for evidence of beasts such as the Yeti and Bigfoot. Actually I did enjoy the Yeti one- those footprints were impressive (although I did expect one of the team to emerge from the tent wearing a pair of gorilla slippers)
The episode I am watching now includes a creature called El Pombero, which has this descriptionThe Pombero is also often accused of impregnating single women either by a mere touch of his hand or by raping them in the night, and it is said that babies who are born ugly and hairy are likely the result of a visit from the Pombero.
Is it possible that we have the official explanation for Wayne Rooney?

Last Choir Standing Heat 2
@ 2008-07-28 – 09:53:17
This weekend was the second heat for the Last Choir Standing competition. On Saturday, gospel choir 'Revelation' went through and The Common Room Choir were sent home, leaving three male voice choirs to fight it out on Sundays show
And Yesterday, the fourth place was filled by, what I consider, a fantastic choir. They call themselves Only Men Aloud, and they are brilliant. If you haven't heard them then go to the BBC website and click on the 'Kiss from a Rose' video link. It was outstanding- especially considering their MD wasn't there! This competition is looking good. Even Nick ArseFace has had a shave

WHO do we want?
@ 2008-07-18 – 18:58:37
From Digital Spy
Tennant offered £1.5 million 'Who' deal?
David Tennant has been offered a £1.5 million deal to stay on as Doctor Who, according to The Sun.
The BBC had feared Tennant could depart the role after filming four special episodes. The broadcaster has reportedly tabled a "massive bid" to persuade the actor to continue as the Time Lord for the fifth series, scheduled to air in 2010.
A source revealed that Tennant will decide on his future after he meets with new executive producer Steven Moffatt.
"It will be a new team and David has to meet everyone to make a final decision," the source said. "But we're gearing up to offer him a massive deal. He's interested. Everyone thought he was going, but it’s not as open and shut as that."
Tennant, who recently completed filming on the Christmas special, will shortly star in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet.
SO does anyone want to sign a petition to get him to stay?

Personal Services Required
@ 2008-07-13 – 19:44:36
I watched this during the week and saw it was repeated tonight- Channel 4 8pm and thought I would mention it.
Three 'housekeepers' are looking for a job and try out two employers. One of them runs a dog hotel and the other a professional couple with abratkid. But will any of the housekeepers impress enough to be offered a job? or will they want it if they do?I thoroughly enjoyed this show- I only for the obnoxious family (or as Andrew called them Lottery Chavs) I really can't imagine anyone wanting to have that job!
Worth a watch! -
Bonekickers
@ 2008-07-12 – 19:52:52
Watched this the other night thinking it would be a good drama like Primaeval and we both said - as long as it's better than that god awful Treasure Hunter thing with Tia Carrera or whatever her name was - but we were proved wrong. It was worse.
If you can get past the obvious flaws in the archaeological technicalities of the programme (which I won't go into a great deal, although if I found any archaeologists who were as multi-skilled as that lot - dendro in half an hour? C14 dates overnight? Wow - I would snap them up straight away) then you are left with - well, not very much.
The introduction of the characters was very weak (by the end of the programme I couldn't even remember any of their names) and the acting was far too cliched. The bad guy should have been set up at the beginning with more clues and twists along the way rather than a rambling concoction of scenes which were inevitably predictable and (and I know this may sound odd given the actual plot) also a little far-fetched. What was that singing at the end? Whoever came up with that idea needs to get fired.
Now, I may watch it next week, as I do want to give it a chance. Yes, all 'dramas' about certain professions have their element of bullshit about them (CSI and Bones are probably as accurate a depiction of the excitement of forensic science as my cat is to a ferocious tiger) but that still leaves the credibility of the acting, script and plot.
A few sub-plots were started - who is the prof's mother and why is she so sensitive about it? And - well, that was it. I should have said one sub-plot. The only guy I really liked (and actually did remind me of a few archaeologists I know) was the big guy who had the best line at the end.

Hugh Bonneville - best character - last seen in tonnes of stuff where you remember his face but can't picture the when, where and who.Sorry, BBC. Should have tried a bit harder. Hope it gets better. And the premise and the characters could do so well if it is used right. There is a wealth of possible plot lines they can use on this and any number of ways the characters can go. Make them a bit more likeable then please!!
Did anyone out there see it and thought it was good? I'd like to know to give it a chance, but this one may well slip me by.

Bloody Mary
@ 2008-07-12 – 10:07:14
I have just watched the second episode in this third series of Ghost Whisperer "Don't try this at home" and I have to say it was fantastic- really quite scary!
The story is based on the Bloody Mary legend- a girl that was supposedly buried alive and if you say her name three times in the mirror she appears to you and within four days you will die! (Like the Candyman) Four school friends did it- one is dead, two are in a coma and the fourth is scared for her life. If you get an opportunity to see a repeat of this episode it's worth it
Ghost whisperer has two of my favourite things in a TV show- 1) Ghost Stories and 2) a Hot Girl! What more could I want

And here's a question for you- would you do the 'Bloody Mary' or 'Cansyman' thing in the mirror?

New Tricks returns tonight
@ 2008-07-07 – 07:56:01
The show about three retired police men returning to solve previousloy unsolved crimes has a great cast, Dennis Waterman, James Bolam, Alun Armstrong and Amanda Redman work well together, amnd there have been some interesting stories, but I do have a problem with New Tricks.
My problem is this. The show doesnt take its self seriously enough. I think it is too light and fluffy, it could be more gritty, les humour. I understand that it is a comedy drama, but i would like to se the slant further towards the drama rather than the comedy.
And another thing. Does Dennis Waterman have it in his contract that he always has to sing the theme tune for show's he's in?
New Tricks
Minder.

An astounding Saturday night
@ 2008-07-05 – 21:01:31
sitting on the edge of my seat. Being moved in so many ways. I had to have silence as I watched the best nights entertainment we've had in ages. I love it when so many things come together to make the end results stunning.
What am I talking about?
Last Choir Standing, of course. Such great vocals, and performances. And they all looked like they were having such fun- except for perhaps that girls school choir who were made to wear the horrid party dresses. What the the MD say "Those no better fun than hard work" yeah right! I bet those girls were kicking themselves- they could have got through on their performance if it weren't for their presentation!
And the inclusive choir at the end- Moon River! WOWPS Doctor Who was fantastic too!

Just one hour to go for the Doctor who season finale..
@ 2008-07-05 – 17:53:55
Dont know about you, but i'm on the edge of my seat.
Katherine Tate is quoted as saying, 'The repercussions of what Davros has done and what that means for the Doctor's companions are huge and far-reaching. it's a brave way to end the series.'
Will the prophecy prove true? are we going to see a death tonight?

Some thoughts before tonights doctor who
@ 2008-07-05 – 13:11:41
I have just re-watched last weeks episode and I have been thinking...
If the cardiff rift is a rift in space and time, how was it then moved with the planet? surely it would still be in the same point in space!
Who was Rose calling on the phone. She called them 'Control' and then teleported to the doctor. I am assuming that it is Mickey smith, Jackie and perhaps Pete Tyler (as we haven't seen them yet. But are they in a space ship?
And what is the big plan???? It's exciting isn't it. Davros was wanting the doctor to come. He said the children of time are moving and the pieces are finally falling into place. I get the impression that the 27 planets form an engine, but it needs a power source. I am thinking perhaps.... the TARDIS!
Will the TARDIS die? It is afterall a most faithful companion!Ooooh Cannot wait!
PS: and what is the Mr Copper foundation? What role do they have? Not part of Torchwood, but a secret enough organisation to help fund the Sub-wave network.
And.... Assuming the dalkes come out of hiding from the Medusa Cascade, will the Shadow Proclamation be there- they did declare war after all!

Heroes Season 2 finale
@ 2008-07-05 – 11:52:34
I have just finished watching this. Did anyone else see it? I know that the season was only 11 episodes due to the writers strike, but did anyone else think the finale felt a little rushed?
